Hello Hyunwoo Kim,

Yes, the TUSB8041 is designed to work without any EEPROM or SMBUS host required. Please note that if you will be configuring the hub using pin configuration only, do not install an EEPROM and remember to set SMBUSz = 1.

Thanks for the quick response.

Looking at the EVM schematic, there is a connector for JTAG,

Is this function not actually used?

Correct, the JTAG is only for internal test mode. The EVM design is also the lab evaluation board design so it has some unpopulated extra features that are not needed by end users.
