Hi all,

I have to design a new interface board for RS485 half duplex communication over a long distance (up to 100 m) and this will be produced during the next 20 years, so, I need components that wouldn't discontinued in few years.

Do you have any new alternative for this component (this have several years) that I can use in my new design?

    Hello,

    I'd recommend looking into THVD1500 as an initial suggestion.  It is similar to SN65HVD3082E but has higher ESD ratings, lower ICC, and supports a wider temperature range.  I'm not qualified to make any guarantees with respect to long-term production lifetimes, but I can tell you that this component is supported via modern fabs in a process technology that is widespread across our analog products and is in high volume demand from a broad range of customers.

    Similar devices you could consider are THVD1550 (supports higher data rates), THVD1450 (supports operation at VCC = 3 V), THVD1429 (has integrated TVS diode for additional surge tolerance), and THVD2450 (supports high-voltage shorts on the bus lines up to 70 V).
