DS100RT410: quickly start to use DS100RT410

Part Number: DS100RT410

Hi team,

My customer are evaluating DS100RT410 face many problems. do you have some quickly start or guideline can share?

also, could you share default registers help customer or initialization reference code?

there have 4 DS100RT410 and one EEPROM, In the 10Gbe condition, they can read device address of each DS100RT410 and EEPROM, but failed to other communication.

thank you in advance.

  • Hi Betty,

    Please let us know:

1). Through SMBus interface we cannot access device registers?

2). Can you please send us schematic?

3). Also, please let us know test setup and the nature of the problem.

    Regards,, Nasser

  • Hi Nasser,

    1. they can use SMBUS access retimer register, but only can write the device of 0x18. For others like 0x19, 0x1a, 0x1b, they can only read, not write.

    2. Please see the attachment for schematic.

    3. DS100RT410 is used in switches, total needs 12pes retimer. the problem is that the retimer of 0x18 can be link while others are not.

  • Hi Betty,

Can we do a couple of experiments:

1). Let's put scope probe on device #2 or device with address 0x19 SCL and SDA signals then read and write from device #1(0x18 address). This should go through as you had mentioned.  Next get another scope shot and read/write from device #2. What is the difference between these scope shots? Can we get these scope shorts?

2). Do you see any improvement if you change R519 and R520 from 4.7K to 1K ohm? Or can you now read and write to any of the retimers?

3). what is the SMBus SCL frequency? Does it make a difference if you reduce the frequency?

    Regards,, Nasser
