TUSB2046I: Enquiry about MCU interface and Reset circuit.

Part Number: TUSB2046I

Hello,

We are planning to use 4 port HUB controller IC TUSB2046IBVFR (IC USB HUB CONTROLLER 32LQFP) in our upcoming design.

We have some queries regarding that,

1.Is that IC supports direct interface with MCU USB host?
2.Shall we connect TUSB2046IBVFR reset pin to MCU GPIO or supervisory for proper reset functionality? What kind of circuit is need to be used for reset?

Thanks,
Arun

  • Hi Arun,

    1.  Yes, the IC can be directly connected with the USB host,   There is a reference design for a hub on motherboard application here:  http://www.ti.com/product/TUSB2046B/technicaldocuments

    2. The MCU GPIO can be used to control the reset or a regular reset circuit or you can use a passive reset circuit or a reset supervisor.  Please note you do not want to hold the hub in reset for too long if the host is on and the DP pullup is active, otherwise the host will attempt and fail to connect to the hub.

    Regards,
