PCF8574: I2C clock frequency can work at 400kHz?

Part Number: PCF8574

Hi team

Can PCF8574's I2C frequency clock work at 400kHz?

Even if I search the datasheet, I can't see the clear description. So please let me make sure this.

Regards,

Noriyuki Takahashi

  • Hello Takahashi-san,

Today is a holiday for our US office; we can respond back to you early next week.

    Max

  • Hey Noriyuki-san,

The original datasheet for this device also specs 100kHz max so I suspect the device was designed for 100kHz (It was NOT something we where we removed the 400kHz spec later on).

As a side note, the competitor PCF8574 also states 100kHz as their max frequency.

If the customer uses the device outside the 100kHz range, while it may still work, we cannot guarantee device operation outside of the datasheet spec of 100kHz.

If this is something that the customer needs, can we move them to one of our newer TCA devices? (this switch would ofcourse require software changes to their master).
