P82B96: Slave between two P82B96 on buffered line

Part Number: P82B96

Dear all,

I kindly need to know if the configuration below is allowed:  5V logic slave on the buffered line between two P82B96. Total track length between two P82B96 is about 10cm + 5cm cable with two JST 1mm pitch connectors.

Many thanks

Daniele

  • Hi Daniele,

It is not common to do this since often the P82B96 is used as a way of translating the I2C signals to a higher voltage or to use a stronger pull-up resistance (i.e., a lower resistance value than a typical I2C slave may be specified to support).  However, ss long as the high- and low-level voltage specifications of the slave are compatible with those of the P82B96 buffered bus this should be ok to do.

    Regards,

    Max
