ONET1151L: Impedance matching

Part Number: ONET1151L

Hi,
we are designing a 10Gbps optical communication board using ONET1151L , here in layout guidelines (as shown in attached image) DIN (+/-) or differential 100 ohms and Dout (+/-) are differential 50 ohms impedance matched, is that means each track of DIN is 50 ohms and DOUT is 25 Ohms impedance matched? or individual tracks of DIN is 100 ohms and Dout is 50 ohms impedance matched? Will four layer board will be a optimal one for this?

  • Hi Revanth,

Differential DIN is 100-ohm closely coupled and DOUT is 50-ohm differential impedance closely coupled. If closely coupled traces are not possible or there must be single ended trace along the signal path then DIN plus or minus can be 50-ohm single ended and DOUT plus or minus can be 25-ohm single ended. Please discuss this with your pcb layout person and manufacturer. Based on their pcb material they can comment if with 4-layers PCB can meet these impedance requirements.

    Regards,, Nasser
