DS90LV031AQML-SP: Internal Protection Circuit for SEL Protection

Part Number: DS90LV031AQML-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90LV032AQML-SP, SN55LVDS31-SP, SN55LVDS32-SP

I am considering to use LVDS driver/receiver for a space project

   - 5962-9865101QFA (DS90LV031AW-SP driver)

   - 5962-9865201QFA (DS90LV032AW-SP receiver)

I am wondering that the LVDS driver and receiver have a internal circuitry to prevent a single event latch-up (SEL).

also they are not sensitive from SEL

  • Hello Byounghyun,

Note that 5962-9865101QFA and 5962-9865201QFA are military grade products and not space grade products.

The space grade products are not listed on an SMD, and the orderable part numbers for the space grade products are DS90LV031AWGMLS and DS90LV032AWGMLS.  They are covered in product folders DS90LV031AQML-SP and DS90LV032AQML-SP.

TI has not performed heavy ion testing on the DS90LV031/2 space grade parts, but other have.  You can find reports by doing internet searches on:

TOTAL DOSE AND SINGLE EVENT EFFECTS IRRADIATION OF VARIOUS COMMERCIAL INTEGRATED CIRCUITS IN LOGIC FAMILIES AND LINE INTERFACES

    and:

    ESA_QCA0418S_C

The DS90LV031/2 parts came to TI when we acquired National Semiconductor in 2011.

TI has two additional space products that have the same specs which may be a better choice.  These products have SEE reports posted in the product pages showing no SEL was found.

    The part numbers are:

    SN55LVDS31-SP and SN55LVDS32-SP

    5962-9762101VFA and 5962-9762201VFA
