TUSB211-Q1: TUSB211-Q1 + TUSB214-Q1 use case

I would recommend TUSB217-Q1 for automotive applications or our latest redriver with most redriving capability, TUSB216. Having two redrivers in series is an acceptable application however the driver should not be close together as this could inadvertently boost noise/oscillations. USB 2 redrivers can help to improve CarPlay, iPod, Android Auto and etc performance.We do not have a example of this specific implementation.

Do have any recommended distance to separate between two redrivers, TUSB211+ TUSB214? Because my customers prefer the proven devices at their previous generation application. What is the USB 2 driivers that you mentioned?

Hi DY,

Sorry for the typo, it should read USB 2 redrivers. It is hard to give a exact distance as it depends on layout and PCB material. The main point here is that the redriver should not be very close to one another <~4 inches and the settings for the two will be different, one redriver "cleaning" the signal more than the other. What is the expected traces and cable lengths in this application?

Does customer have s-parameters for the PCB trace? 49 mm maybe be enough separation.

Hi Malik,

According to my customer, there are two board for this USB application. Actually A-board(CPU + TUSB211-Q1) and B-board(TUSB214-Q1 + Connector) are connected by B2B connector between them and the total distance of TUSB211 -- B2B connector--TUSB214 connection is around 49mm. So he wants to know if it is acceptable separation in this case.
