DS90UB921-Q1: Can ds90ub921-q1 use the 16bit Video data mode?

Part Number: DS90UB921-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VM

hello,

DS90UB921-Q1 has both 24-bit RGB mode and 18-bit RGB mode, but our SOC (TDA4vM DPI1 port) is 16bit data.

Can the two interfaces be connected?

If so, how to choose DS90UB921 mode?

If not, is there a suitable serializer to recommend?

TDA4vM DPI1 port:

Thanks very much!

  • Hello,

DS90UB921-Q1 acts like a pass through of the data pins (either 24 or 18 based on selection). If you only utilize 16 data pins then you can select 18 bit mode and then simply tie two of the unused pins low. On the deserializer side then the system designer can also make note to ignore the two unused bits as well.

    Best Regards,

    Casey
