Using the TPS65981 Application customization tool, I tried to program the TPS65987DDH/Standard/Downstram Facing Port/ configuration onto the TIDA-050012 DUO Source Board. It should then behave like the TPS65987DJEVM board i.e. i should not have to press any of the configuration buttons. But the board still works as if it is programmed with the default configuration. I know the configuration tool gives me error free messages when I am downloading.

Hello,

Please follow the programming steps outlined in the users guide to ensure you are programming the source board and not the sink board.

Also, if you press the 20V button, it will act as the TPS65987DJEVM board, with no need to re program the board

Hello Adam,

I am doing a design where both of the TPS65987D ports are being used in parallel to source power just like the PD duo-evm. However, i am not using any push buttons to select any configuration. I just have one configuration i.e. 5V 3A, 9V 3A, 15V 3A and 20V 3A. I cannot seem to program the power duo board to eliminate the push buttons.

You can follow the steps to reprogram the PD duo board listed in the user guide. Make sure to move the programmer jumper to ensure that you are writing to the correct device. You must also perform a power cycle after programming so that the PD controller can load the new configuration.

Adam,

The power duo evm has two programming headers. one for the power source side and one for the power receive side. There is a clear break between the two sections. I don't believe the programming headers signals cross over between the boards. I am programming the TPS65987D on the source side of the board and I am also power cycling.

Hello Arif,

Please refer to the schematic within the user's guide. You will see that the SPI lines (used to program flash) are shared between the two headers and the way to differentiate between which flash you are programming is through the use of the CS pin which is controlled by header J202. Please following the programming steps outlined within the users guide

Hello Adam,

Ok, finally figured out what is going on. The jumper J202 must have a jumper between 1-2 else the sink PD controller cannot the fetch code and configuration data from the flash memory.
