TCA9543A: Is it applicable to 2master, 1slave designs?

Part Number: TCA9543A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX154E,

Hi Ti team,

My customer is looking for a suitable IC for the block below.

They want to apply TMUX154E. Is it available?

I think it is suitable for TCA9543A, an I2C dedicated switching IC. it is right?

Could you recommend a suitable IC for the customer block?

Thanks,

Downey KIM.

  • Hey Downey,

Our I2C portfolio currently does not have a dedicated IC that does I2C arbitration between two masters. This means TCA9543A would not work without some kind of communication between two masters to allow it to work.

I will reassign this thread internally to our MSS (multiplexers and signal switches) team for them to comment on the use of TMUX154E in this scenario.

  • Hi Downey,

Yes, the TMUX154E can be used for I2C applications as long as the I/O voltage is within the recommended operating conditions.

Depending on your masters and slaves you may need to put pull up resistors on both sides of the switch to ensure their proper performance.
