HD3SS460: Can Ln[A:D] be used for another USB type-C port?

HD3SS460 can be used for this since the LnX lanes so not rout to the SSTX and SSRX pins. To do something like this assuming no DP Atl modes are used, 3 muxes will be needed.

We do not have any DP signals in this application. We simply want to connect two USB type-C connectors. Do you mean, in this application, LnX pins can be used for USB TX/Rx lanes, just like CTX[1:2] and CRX[1:2] pins on HD3SS460? Are 3 additional muxes required?

Hi Brad,

Regardless of DP signals, the LnX pins are not muxed to the proper locations for this application, meaning they are routed to SSTX and SSRX. I do not recommend using HD3SS460 for this application.

You could use three muxes like TMUXHS4212. One for each Type-C port and one to act as the "off/on" mux between the two.

Page 12 of the datasheet shows the following two mux routing (first and second configs in table 1). They look great for my application. If we connect one USB type-C signals to the left (CRX1, CTX1, CTX2, CRX2) and the other USB type-C to the right (LnD, LnC, LnB, LnA), will it work?

Sorry, I miss understood your intention in your application. Yes you can use switch in this way. Are you intending to use the EN for the ON/OFF function?
