DP83848H: RMII clocking by the MAC

Hi,

The datasheet states that the 50MHz supply shall be provided by an external oscillator.

Is it possible to provide this clock using the 50MHz output provided by the MAC ? In our configuration the TMS320F28384D.

Yes MAC can provide this 50MHz clock to phy. You may confirm with MAC that it is using the same 50MHz clock for RMII also. Will you be able to raise this query with processor team also?

No need to ask the processor team, the clock I was speaking of is the one output by the ethernet block of the processor so it's all good.
