DS100RT410: General Questions About Use As PRBS Generator

Hi TI Support,

I had a general question about the DS100RT410's PRBS Generator.

Is it possible to use the following ASIC only for the PRBS Generator? I am presently exploring this as a potential option to use on a test board that is intended to output PRBS patterns across a 10.315 G interface. Can the device be used only as a PRBS Generator with just a refclk and no inputs on the RX pins?

    Hi Sean,

    Yes you can use PRBS generator with no input. Please note - as mentioned in the data sheet section 7.5.12, in this case VCO is free running and it may need to be tuned per part bases. Please refer to this section of the data sheet for detailed register settings.
