Good Day,

I'm using Serializer/Desirializer SCAN921023 and SCAN921224 respectively.

according to TI website the serializer (SCAN921023) is not recommended for new design although the deserializer (SCAN921224) is active.

there is a different serializer that i'm intend to use, p/n: SN65LV1023ARHBT but i wander if it will operate with the previous item (SCAN921224).

is there any previous experience with such design ?

What are the risks ?

Hi Amir,

Yes, you can use the SCAN921224 with the SN65LV1023A. The functionality of the SerDes is the same except for the added JTAG capability, which you can ignore.

There are few more differences between this couples, for instance the TCLK cycles requires data transmission mode. in SCAN921023 it requires 5 clock cycles and in SN65LV1023A it requires 6 clock cycles. another different is the number of cycles to exit powerdown mode 510 vs 1026 clock cycles.

i suppose this requires adaptation as well, but will it work ?

Hi Amir,

Yes, I guess it is better to say that the SCAN921224 functionality is the same as the DS92LV1212A deserializer, which is the National version (now obsolete) of the SN65LV1224B with added JTAG capability. There are minor differences but there is nothing protocol wise that will keep you from pairing the SN65LV1023A with the SCAN921224.
