P82B96: connection with TCA9517A

Part Number: P82B96
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9517A, TCA9517

Hello Experts,

I want to know how to connect between TCA9517A and P82B96.

My understanding is;
[connection]
1. Sx side <P82B96> Tx side  <=>  A side <TCA9517A> B side   ===> It will work correctly.
2. Sx side <P82B96> Tx side  <=>  B side <TCA9517A> A side   ===> It wan't work correctly.

Is my understanding correct?

Best Regards,
Fujiwara

  • Hello Experts,

    Here is a block diagram. Please tell whether it will work correctly or not.

  • What you have attached in the powerpoint would work.

    Though I need to point out, P82B96 was designed to connect to other P82B96 on the TX/RY+TY/RY side so this set up you have now was not how the device was meant to be used. The P82B96 can support very high IoLs and thus long cable communication however the TCA9517 does not support as much as the P82B96 does so it would be the limiting factor. You would need to make sure the IoL on the cable side is not too large. 30cm should not require strong pull up resitors, so that is why I am saying this can work (A side of 9517 to P82B96).
