TPD4E1B06: Clamping voltage at 16A

(1) I did not find in the datasheet the information about the clamping voltage for 16A, which corresponds to the 8kV IEC 61000-4-2 waveform.

TLP Plot only goes up to 10A.

(2) Another question is about the scale of the +8 kV IEC Waveform plot, which appears in us, but the most common would be ns. I would like to know if it is an error, or if the tests were really carried out with this scale of us.

Welcome to E2E!

The TLP graph in the datasheet shoes the clamping voltage voltage for up to 10A, but in the electrical characteristics table we list the dynamic resistance for the TLP current curve from I_TLP = 10A to I_TLP = 20A. The dynamic resistance is 1Ohms in this range meaning that the clamping voltage for 16A should be ~25V.

For the IEC 8kV waveform you are correct, that is a typo. Thank you for bringing it up to our attention. the units for that graph should in fact be nanoseconds not microseconds.

I'm curious to know how does this account with Rdyn to calculate Vclamp, could you teach?

Hi,

In the TLP curve 1/Rdyn will be the slope of the graph. From 10A-20A the TPD4E1B06 has an Rdyn of 1Ohms meaning that the graph has a slope of 1/Rdyn = 1/1 = 1 from 10A-20A.

At 10A the clamping voltage is ~19V. A slope of 1 from 10A-20A gives us the ~25V clamping voltage at 16A.
