Hi, TUSB522P support team

The below is the absolute maximum rating of TUSB522P.

The maximum voltage of differential I/O pin is 1.5V. And this value is with respect to GND terminals. This value feels very low. Is it correct?

Could you suggest ESD protection device to protect the differential I/O pins from ESD 3kV?

Hi Tamio,

This is correct, superspeed lanes are AC coupled so the overall peak voltage should be 1.2V at the lost (coming from LFPS, superspeed data is much lower). You can look at devices like TPD4E05U06.

The below is the TPD4E05U06 specification.

Can TPD4E05U06 which VRWM is max.5.5V really protect the differential I/O pin? The differential I/O pins seems to be damaged.

Hi Tamio,

ESD events typical exceed his 5.5V Vrwm. Also remember that USB3 lines are AC coupled and the largest Vpp expected on these lines is 1.2V from LFPS.

ESD122 has a lower Vrwm and can also be used.
