ESDS302: noise performance vs ESD protection selection

Dear e2e support,

My question is generic, over our ESD protection solutions.

My customer would need to understand what are the parameters that influence the noise in a signal chain, on the ESD protection side:

his thoughts are that if the ESD diode leakage current in too significant, it implies some "shot noise", "popcorn noise", etc... could you confirm?

Do we have any details on noise performances vs ESD protection uses?

Regards,

  • Hello,

Unfortunately, we don't collect data on noise performance for our ESD protection devices, but from what I know about shot and popcorn noise, they are mainly caused by chip defects, not leakage current. However, if the customer is still concerned about leakage, our parts have very low leakage current (about 5 nA). We even have some parts that only have 1 nA of leakage like the TPD4E001, so I highly doubt any noise will be generated due to leakage.

    Regards,
