I would like to know if there are any recommendation for cables and connectors such as STP or twisted cables. If so, can you tell me the requirements for these?

For CAN application, twisted-pair cabling is always recommended, and this is to help with RF emissions and immunity. CAN twisted-pair cabling has a characteristic impedance of 120 ohms, and there are many options in the market.

For connectors, it typically depends on the application: automotive applications have a specific set of connectors they typically use in their ECUs. What is the application?

RYO,

Thanks for this, in automotive, customers typically use DSUB9 connectors between CAN nodes with a standard pinout for the CANH, CANL, GND, and battery supply in the system.

I've also seen these used for power and CAN connections to ECUs.
