TPD2E2U06: ESD protection for IEC61000-4-4 Burst events?

The use case is the below:

On a PCB an I2C master communicates to an I2C slave over an analog MUX (like TMUX1072, TS5A623157). IEC61000-4-4 Burst events occur on the Master side I2C (before the MUX) and the communication is disturbed:

I2C master <------------> MUX  <------> I2C Slave
                                 |
                            ESD burst    


-Can TPD2E2U06 help to mitigate those type of problems?
-Where should it be placed?
-Do we have some design advises/guidelines (schematics, PCB layout) that can help to mitigate such issues?
-Any TI reference design that specifically tackle IEC61000-4-4 Burst events creating interface communication issues?

    As a starting point, please refer to the following E2E post regarding selecting a mux for I2C applications, along with an app note IEC 61000-4-x Tests for TI’s Protection Devices.

    TPD2E2U06 complies with IEC 61000-4-5 Surge protection – 5.5-A Peak pulse current (8/20 µs Pulse). Surge has a longer period and a higher power than EFT. Let me check with our team on the best protection device for IEC61000-4-4 Burst in I2C applications & I or one of our team members will update you tomorrow.

    I did not find anything in the datasheet to suggest that this part has been tested to protect against IEC-61000-4-4 burst events. This does not mean it won't necessarily protect it against those events, but it's not guaranteed. However, I did find another part that might fit your needs. TPD1E05U06 is recommended to protect I2C interfaces and will also protect against IEC-61000-4-4 burst events. 

    The part should be placed in parallel with the input and connected to ground as the diagram below shows. 

    As far as reference designs are concerned, I don't have any specifically related to IEC-61000-4-4. However I would recommend reading these documents to gain a better understanding of these types of issues and how to deal with them.
