TL16C550D: The setting of XI pin and XO pin in case of using oscillator

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask TL16C550D?

Our customer will use TL16C550D with oscillator, so we would like to confirm the setting of XI pin and XO pin in case of using oscillator.

At first, is it possible to use oscillator for XI input?

<Question2>
XI : oscillator input
The level of VIH and VIL depend on VCC(power), right?
And then, if you have some specification for oscillator clocks, could you share us?
Duty Cycle : 40%(min), 60(max)?
Frequency Tolerance : ±XXppm?
Rise / Fall Time : XXns??

<Question3> 
XO should be open, right?

  • 1. The datasheet mentions that this is possible.

    2. When used with a crystal, the XIN signal is a sine wave. Any digital signal has a much higher quality than that, and will work.

    3. XOUT is unused and can be left open.
