What is the recommended max allowable junction temperature to meet performance requirements and max allowable junction temperature to avoid damage?
Alison,
We've done some digging, and for a part of this age, the data we have available is the maximum temperature data for the ambient environment of the product, rather than the junction temperature itself.

For this spec, we could consider this the maximum recommended operating condition. For any TI device, the Recommended Operating Conditions section provides the conditions in which the device will meet spec.
For the DS26LV32AT, the maximum Operating Free Air Temperature is +85°C. The operating junction temperature would be at least this temperature.*

We could consider this the absolute maximum condition for this device. For any TI device, the Absolute Maximum Ratings section provides the conditions that must be maintained in order to prevent damage to the device. Exceeding any of these conditions could cause immediate and irreparable damage to the device.
For this product, the absolute maximum Storage Temperature is +150°C. The absolute maximum junction temperature would be at least this temperature.*

*Note that the maximum junction temperature is, by definition, higher than the ambient temperature of the device, since TJ = TA + (RθJA × PD).
I hope this information is helpful.
Best,
Danny
