SCANSTA112: SCANSTA112

Part Number: SCANSTA112

I need to configure this TI JTAG Multiplexer (SCANSTA112) in Scan bridge Mode (using the JTAG port).  My only JTAG tools are from the Intel Quartus Prime and Micro Semi Flash Pro tools.  These tools are FPGA  specific and I don't think they can be used to configure the TI JTAG Multiplexer ?   What tool do I need to configure this device, a standard IEEE 1149.1 controller ??  Is there a TI application or demo kit that comes with a simple controller that I can use to download a programming file into this device ? I understand this device can be configured by strapping the hardware pins on power up or reset, but that will not work on my application.

  • Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, please refer to this app note and in particular section 3.3,

The primary operating mode, either ScanBridge or stitcher, is ultimately controlled by the value of bit 2 in the control register. But you do need a standard IEEE1149.1 controller to configure the SCANSTA112.

    Thanks

  • Hi David

I am trying to find out what tools to use.  That is my main objective.  I tried to demo the IEEE 1149.1 tools from JtagTechnologies (JT2149) but they(all of there tools)  will only work  for auto-generated boundary scan applications and will not allow me to simply target this SCANSTA112 device individually. The code that configures the SCANSTA112 is all hidden, embedded in the application.  You can't just send individual commands to the SCANSTA112,  You can only generate scan operations and the software auto configures the mux, then de-selects it, with no access by the user (me in this case).

I want to target only the SCANSTA112, set it up, and then disconnect so that I can attach an Intel specific debugger tool" to the target device on LSP1,  or whatever port I configured the SCANSTA112 for.

I need a tool to setup "only the SCANSTA112), not to program fpga's or generate and run boundary scan operations.

I have not been able to identify a tool that will work.

Can you point me to a such a tool ?

    Thanks,

    Jim

If I understand you correctly, I think you are looking for a tool that is able to create the sequence of bits that get shifted through the SCANSTA112 (assuming we are not in Transparent Mode) which are then read and updated by the SCANSTA112 as necessary?

Unfortunately, I am not aware of such tool that can perform this function. Have you looked at other ATPG tool such as Corelis or Flynn Systems?

    Thanks
