TCA9543A: Is it applicable to two masters and one slave?

Part Number: TCA9543A

Hi TI experts,

Like the block below, Is it applicable to two masters and one slave?

If the TCA9543A is not suitable, please recommend possible items.

Thanks.

Downey Kim.

  • Hi Downey Kim,

Our I2C switches don't have any kind of master arbitration feature. I don't see this kind of system working without some kind of software set up on both the CPUs.

Any alternative solution I can think of would involve additional software to both CPUs and would involve a normal MUX device with a selector pin.

  • It is possible to have multiple masters on the same bus if all of them are multi master capable. (Almost all I²C hardware implementations allow this, but you must check the software.) In that case, a switch must not be used.
