TMDS181RGZEVM: Using EyeScan Tool, it is not stable with 1080P@59.94 while it's stable with 1080P@60

Part Number: TMDS181RGZEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDS181

Hi,

I tried all the options I can do using the EVM, but failed to get output from it in 1080p@59.94 while I can get in 1080p@60. In 1080p@59.94, its output is unstable. The screen is oftenly flickering in every second.

Here is the test environment :

   A)      HDMI Source Generator ( 1080p@59.94 ) -> Display Monitor                                  => OK

   B)       HDMI Source Generator ( 1080p@59.94 )-> TMDS181EVM -> Display Monitor    => NG

Please refer to the attached schematic :

Hope you can let me know the solution.

Thanks,

Roy

    I am not seeing anything wrong with the schematic except you may want to change the capacitor on the OE pin from 0.1uF to 0.22uF.

    Does this issue happen with one particular HDMI source or multiple HDMI sources?

    Can you also change the VSADJ resistor to a smaller value and see if it helps?

    Thanks

    David

  • David,

    Thanks for your advice.

    >Does this issue happen with one particular HDMI source or multiple HDMI sources?

    Actually, yes, Only this HDMI source has this problem, but it has no problem with other displays. So I wonder if our product which has TMDS181 inside could have this kind of HDMI problem after selling.

    In addition, I attached the EyeScan results as below.

    Thanks,

    Roy

    Is the eye diagram data taken with the TMDS181 EVM?

    Is there a particular pattern you are sending when taking this eye diagram?

    Can you please measure the TMDS181 clock output for the 1080@59.94 and 1080@60? What is the clock frequency you are seeing between the two resolution?

    Thanks
    David
