TCAN1042HG-Q1: Safety document and TI classification?

Part Number: TCAN1042HG-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1042H

Team,

We used to list the TCAN1042H as SafeTI device in the older SafeTI portal.

Now in the new Safety portal (that uses the new terminology/categorization) the CAN transceiver listed are TCAN4550-Q1 and ISO1042-Q1:
https://www.ti.com/interface/can-lin-transceivers-sbcs/products.html#p3316=Functional%20Safety-Capable;Functional%20Safety%20Quality-Managed;Functional%20Safety-Compliant
But TCAN1042H does not appear despite that we publish some Functional safety docs (SLLA502) in the litterature link :
https://www.ti.com/product/TCAN1042-Q1?keyMatch=TCAN1042&tisearch=Search-EN-everything&usecase=GPN#tech-docs

Any reasons why we do not list TCAN1042H in the new Safety categorization list?

Thanks in advance!

A.

  • AnBer,

There are many requirements within TI and in the ISO safety spec that must be met to be declared a functionally-safety capable device. TCAN1042H definitely has features that make it more appealing for an application related to safety, but we typically don't go through the process for just our standard transceivers.
