Hi Team,

FPD-link has the bi-directional control channel.

From Ser to De-Ser is the forward channel.

From De-Ser to Ser is the back channel.

Is it possible to turn off the back channel?

Our customer would like to measure the signal from Ser to De-Ser.

But don’t want see the back channel signal interrupt it.

Which register in 948 can achieve this fiction?

Thanks for your time.

  • Hi Soar,

It should be possible to disable the back channel for 948, but I do not see a register available in the datasheet. There couple way that you can measure the eye signal from the Ser and Deser. The first way is to measure the eye from the Ser by connecting the FPD-Link output directly to the high-speed oscilloscope with Jitter and Eye Diagram Analysis Tools. If you want measure the eye diagram from Ser to Deser, I would suggest to use the eye monitoring tool that we have in the ALP software.

  • Hi Soar,

I am not sure if I understood your question. Unfortunately, we do not have the device that you mentioned this thread.
