DS100DF410: DS100DF410 influenced the I2C bus

Part Number: DS100DF410

Hi team,

My customer is using the DS100DF410 now. We currently connect IDT clock(get the configuration from EEPROM) and  DF410 .During power up, we find the DF410 will influence the i2c bus to make the clock configuration un successful. when we remove the DF410 SDA, the clock configuration has no issue.

Currently we have pulled up the EN_SMB  and pull down the READ_EN, and didn't find DF410 pull low the SDA bus, whether the DF410 has other possibility to make the link to be busy? Thanks.

  • Hi Frank,

When EN_SMB is high the retimer is set to Slave Mode. For this case the retimer will not affect the data bus unless it is addressed. Thus I do not foresee any issue for this case.

For the case of Master Mode, there will be activity on the I2C bus during this initialization programming from EEPROM. I'm not sure whether this would affect other devices on the bus. I'm double checking it right now, and I will get back to you.

    Regards,

    Rodrigo Natal
