SN65HVD1470: RS485 Driver deferential output voltage

Part Number: SN65HVD1470

HI Expert,

As per the datasheet sn65hvd1470, the driver deferential voltage is minimum 1.5V @ 54 ohm impedance load.

We are using this device as RS422 manner and we are getting driver out put voltage  500 mV at no load.

Please let us help on this, why we are not getting the 1.5V deferential, we have to use cable length 1Km around.

Please suggest.

  • Hi,

1.5V @54Ohm is per RS485 standard. For RS422, it's 2V @ 100Ohm. Where did you get 500mV with no load? If it's at the receiver input after the 1km cable, it's possible due to the cable loss. BTW, what's the data rate of your application?

    Regards,

    Hao
