THVD2410: Front end protection with no VCC supply

Part Number: THVD2410

Hi,

Please advise the outcome when THVD2410 has +24V on bus pin A and 0v on bus pin B, when there is no VCC power supply present. Also when bus pin A = 0v and bus pin B = +24v i.e. reversed. Assume equipment is floating/isolated and not connected to anything else (i.e. no earth/ground connection).

Will the device survive and will there be any currents flowing back through GND pin, 5v VCC pin or signal pins into my circuitry ? The datasheet only discusses faults when device is operational i.e. powered, as far as I can see.

I am designing an isolated module with 0v, +24v, RS485_A, RS485_B connection terminals, there is a possibility that users will make incorrect connections (+24v terminal has reverse protection).

Note, my 120ohm terminator resistor is rated for the 4.8W dissapation.

Thank you

Andrew
