DS100BR410: SMBus

Part Number: DS100BR410
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS25CP114,

I have 3*DS100BR410 and 3*DS25CP114 in my design. I have some question about their SMBus (I2C) connection.

1. whether the DS100BR410 and DS25CP114 can share the one SMBus(I2C)? Is their I2C compatible with each other.

2. whether  the SMBus of 3*DS25CP114 can be connected together?  Or it have to use external I2C bus to connect them with host.

  • Hi,

    1) The DS100BR410 and DS25CP114 can share one SMBus.  Please note that the DS100BR410 have one set address.  In order to communicate with a single DS100BR410 on SMBus, you will need to select it with the chip select pin (CS).  You will also need to ensure that the DS25CP114 address is not the same as the DS100BR410.  This can be set with the address pins on the DS25CP114.

    2) The SMBus of the 3x DS25CP114 can be connected together, but they will also need a SMBus connection to a host.  Please note that each DS25CP114 should have its own unique SMBus address.  This can be set with address pins.
