Hi support team,
our customer has some questions in SN65HVD1040.
Is the CANH and CANL voltage can be adjusted by external circuit?
If can, how to adjust?
Thanks!

Hi Roy,
If you are referring to the output voltages of the CAN pins during recessive and dominant states, these can not be adjusted by the device inherently. The ISO 11898-2 standard that SN65HVD1040 is designed to follow specifies these characteristics of the driver and thresholds of the receiver.
That being said, external circuitry could indeed be used on the CAN bus to limit the output voltage. For instance, series resistors could be used to attenuate the resulting differential across some other device inputs. Is there a specific set of requirements the output needs to meet in this application?
