TPD4E001-Q1: Looking for advice on which ESD protection solution to use

Part Number: TPD4E001-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD6E05U06, TPD6E001

Hello,

I am looking to update our ESD protection solution for one of our EVMs. My application is to protect some ADC pins from ESD, with a stretch goal that it would also help with Over-voltage conditions, but recognize this isn't the intended purpose.

  1. Historically we have used TPD4E01-Q1(shown above).
  2. Goals in changing this are:
    1. Similar or less input capacitance
    2. Smaller size and more channels are desired.
    3. Automotive qualification is not needed.

Looking at the TI.com I have identified TPD6E001  as a possible choice in the RSE package. Do you think this will work well, do you have another suggestion?

Thanks,
Cody

  • Hi Cody,

TPD6E001 could work for your EVM. Another choice you might consider is TPD6E05U06. It is also a 6 channel device like TPD5E001, and while it is in a slightly bigger package, it eliminates the need for a Vcc pin. It also has better ESD performance with 0.47 pF of capacitance.

    Regards,
