TCA8418: newer device that able to support 16keys

Hi Team,

Customer is looking for keypad controller and for the previous design they are using TCA8418 that able to support up to 12keys, however, for the new design they'll need the device able to support at least 13keys. Do we have any device that able to support to 16keys in total? (4x4)

The TCA8418 device supports up to 18 keys directly, or up to 80 keys in an array.

Hi Clemens,

Sorry that we were confused by the simplify diagram of datasheet. Do we have similar I2C keypad controller IC that support 16keys?

Hi Patty,

As Clemens said the TCA8418 supports up to 18 keys. Is there a reason why the customer wants a device that only supports 16 keys exactly?

TI doesn't have a keypad controller that only supports 16 keys. The TCA6416A however, supports exactly 16 I/Os but does not have the same features as the TCA8418.
