AM26LS32A: Differential to Single-end convert

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM26LS32A, AM26C32, AM26LV32

Hi team

The customer wants to convert the output (3 pairs of differential pulse signal: A+/A-, B+/B-, C+/C-) of incremental rotary encoder to single-end signal, which could be connected to the IO of MCU as the logic input. You can refer to the following picture to know more detail about the differential signal.

  • Amplitude
    • HI:5V
    • Differential single: -5V or 5V (For example A+ minus A-)
  • Maximum single frequency: 250KHz
  • Differential to single-end delay: <100ns

I am not sure whether AM26LS32A is a correct device for this need, if not, could you help recommend a correct device to meet this need?  Thank you.

  • ±5 V is more than used by actual RS-422 signals, but such signals are still inside the common-mode range of all receivers, and will work.

The AM26LS32A outputs TTL voltages, which is not suitable for a 5 V MCU that has not TTL-compatible inputs. Better use the AM26C32 (for a 5 V MCU) or the AM26LV32‍(E) (for a 3.3 V MCU).
