TPD6S300: RPD_G1 and RPD_G2 pins

Part Number: TPD6S300

Hi team,

My customer is using TPD6S300RUKR and is confused about the RPD_G1 and RPD_G2 pins. Their device gets power from USB VBUS, but it is not a mobile device and does not have a battery.  But it seems in order for it to get VBUS power, they think they need to connect RPD_G1 and RPD_G2 to C_CC1 and C_CC2 as shown in the data sheet.

The datasheet also says: If dead battery charging is not required in your application, connect the RPD_G1 and RPD_G2 pins to ground.

But they are thinking this would apply only to devices that have a power source other than USB VBUS.

Is this assessment correct?

Thank you in advance for you support!

  • Hi Errol,

RPD_G1 and RPD_G2 will ensure VBUS is provided in dead battery conditions for a sink. Dead battery resistors ensure that sinks that get power only from VBUS are powered. It sounds like your customer will need to connect RPD_G1/2 to C_CC1/2.

    Thanks,

    Emma
