DS160PR412: DS160PR412 and DS160PR421 application different from standard

Part Number: DS160PR412
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS160PR421

Hi Team,

My customer would like to use DS160PR412/421 in their system. We have some questions as below. Could you provide your professional comments? Thank you.

1. Could we exchange P and N signal? Normally, Tx_P→Rx_P will be used. But customer would like to exchange to Tx_P→Rx_N  because of layout. Is it okay?

2. Could we reverse pin number order? Normally, Tx3_P→Rx3_P will be used. But customer would like to change to Tx3_P→Rx0_P because of layout. Is it okay?

3. Could we place DS160PR412 and DS160PR421 at same location, one is at top side and another one is at bottom side. Has it any concern?

Best regards,

Hardy

  • Hi Hardy,

1). Yes in PCIe - for ease of pcb layout - you can swap positive and negative connections as you have noted.

2). PCIe allows lane reversal - TXP3 going to TXP0. DS160PR412-421 are redrivers and this is seamless or pass through to the device. Please make sure CPU and end point attached on either sides of the PR412-421 do support lane reversal.

3). You can place one at top and another at bottom. This will reduce or saves signals from going through vias.

  • Hi Nasser,

Thanks for your reply. I need another support for customer's schematic review. Let discuss it by E-mail.

    Best regards,
