TUSB211: Inquiry about EQ and Boost Level setting

Hi,

A customer wants to use the TUSB216 as a replacement for the TUSB211.

I have received the following inquiries and request an answer.

- TUSB211 EQ

- TUSB216 BOOST LEVEL

Q1. Do EQ Level and BOOST Level mean different things?

Q2. The EQ setting in the existing circuit is Level 2 EQ (3.9Kohm applied). Should TUSB216 be set to BOOST Level 2 to get the same effect?

    Hi MJ,

    1. Yes TUSB216 Boost is different than EQ. TUSB216 Boost includes both AC and DC boost while TUSB211 EQ is only AC boost. 

    2. TUSB216 redriving capability is greater than TUSB211. TUSB216 BOOST level 2 is stronger than TUSB211 EQ level 2. Customer can try same level during initial testing, eye diagrams may be close, but some minor tuning my be needed for optimal performance.
