TUSB214: cascading two devices on the same bus

Hi all

My customer has a design where the system has two rotational joints and the USB is running over slip-rings to connect three PCBs.

The slip-rings are impacting the USB signal quality.

They have this question:

Is it ok to have two TUSB214 on the same bus, meaning the first after the first slip-ring and the second after the second slip-ring ?

Hi Ueli,

Yes, cascading redrivers is fine. I would recommend for the customer to look at the TUSB216 which is the newer device in this family. They will want to start with the redrivers configured at the lowest settings to prevent overdriving the signals.
