TCA6408A-Q1: Power sequencing

Part Number: TCA6408A-Q1

Hi Team,

As per TCA6408A-Q1 datasheet Page 29 under “Power Supply Recommendations”, do design need to follow power up pattern/ reset pattern to bring the IO expander out of reset as shown in Fig 36,37. What issues it can create if doesn't follow power up/reset sequence.

In my customer application they will not have access to the unit power supply as it is battery operated and installed in remote section.

Regards, Shinu.

  • Hi Shinu,

Figure 36 and 37 simply explain the Power On Reset feature of the device. It is just another way a reset can be done on the device in the case of a failure in the system. You can also reset the device by toggling the RESET pin (active low). Keep in mind that in order for the PIN reset to work VCCP must be at it's operating level.

You can simply ignore the Power On Reset feature of this device if it is unusable for your customer's application.

    Best,

    Chris
