DS100BR210: Does DS100BR210 support the SMPTE 292?

Part Number: DS100BR210
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH1218, LMH1219,

Hello,

In our application, we need to support both SMPTE 292 video input and output. So we plan to use both LMH1219 and LMH1218 for this application. The FPGA and the LMH1218 / LMH1219 are located on a separate card. So the diff pairs from FPGA' SerDes will be routed through the backplane card then to the LMH1219 / LMH1218 via several connectors.

Can I use the DS100BR210 to re-drive the signals from an FPGA' SerDes Rx/Tx then feed them to the LMH1218 / LMH1219 for SMPTE 292?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Alice,

Yes DS100BR210 can support lower data rates such as SMPTE292 running at 1.48Gbps. I am not sure if pathological data pattern would be used in this application. This is a video test pattern. This pattern has long string of ones or zeros. When AC coupling these devices - to prevent or reduce dc wander - please make sure you use as high AC coupling Cap value as possible.

  • Hi Nasser,

Thank you for your prompt reply!

Another question for the setting of the MODE pin of the DS100BR210. Which one should I use for our application?

    Controls Device Mode of Operation
High= 10GbE Mode, Continuous Talk (Output Always On)
Float = 10G-KR Mode, Slow OOB MODE 18 LVCMOS

20 kΩ to GND = eSATA Mode, Fast OOB, Auto Low Power on 100 µs of inactivity. SD
    stays active.
1 kΩ to GND = SAS Mode, Fast OOB

    Thanks.

  • Hi Alice,

Please use High - 10GbE mode.
