SN65HVD230: Bus maximum voltage

Hi Carloabletero,

The absolute maximum bus voltage at any terminal (CANH or CANL) for this device is 16V. If you are using a PhotoMOS relay and the CAN bus is completely isolated from the 24V signal then there should be no issue. If possible can you provide a schematic so I can double check the configuration of the CAN bus?

If you would like I could suggest a device with a higher bus fault protection.

Here are some alternative devices. All these devices are 3.3V CAN with bus fault protection from +/-36V.

The one that is most equivalent to your original device is the SN65HVD233. The biggest difference is that this device has a loopback mode pin instead of a Vref pin (pin 5). Otherwise the rest of the pins are equivalent. If you would like more options we would have to look at 5V CAN.
