TMDS181RGZEVM: Default operation mode

Part Number: TMDS181RGZEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDS181

Hello expert,

I have question for TDMS181EVM.

My customer start to evaluate TMDS181 using EVM.
Then, they want to know initial operation mode of TMDS181EVM when they only connect power source to EVM.

As far as I understand, I think default register setting is loaded.
So this device will be "Automatic redriver to retimer crossover at 1.0 Gbps (default)".
HDMI's data rate is higher than 1.0Gbps with all revision.
So I guess this device is work as retimer when they start to supply power for EVM.

Is this understanding correct?

The "Automatic redriver to retimer crossover at 1.0 Gbps (default)" setting is for both the pin-strap and the I2C mode.

At pixel clock below 100 MHz, the TMDS181 automatically bypasses the internal retimer and operates as a redriver. So at power up, the TMDS181 is in redriver mode and when it sees a valid pixel clock and that clock is above 100MHz, then it will switch to retimer mode.

    Thanks
