Hello TI Experts,

My Customer wants to use existing DS90UB935-Q1 design and, replace that serializer with DS90UB953-Q1.

They want to keep DS90UB936-Q1 deserializer without change.

I understand both serializers are 100% compatible in PCB HW (no BOM changes needed).

What about SW/configuration changes in MCU?

Can you list what registers/settings Customer needs to adjust? to roll over from 935-936 pair, to 953-936?

Hello Piotr,

There are zero changes needed in HW or SW to make this change. This would be a drop in replacement since 953 supports higher CSI-2 BW than 935. If you were to go the other way around and replace 953 with 935, then you would just need to verify that the CSI-2 input BW to the 935 is < 2.528Gbps

What is default value of Device ID Register (Address 0x00) in 935 and 953?

With customer we think this could be sth to be changed in SW at 935 to 953 transition.

Hello Piotr,

The default value for the reg depends on the IDx pin strapping which sets the device I2C address. The strap settings are the same for 935 and 953.
