I am interested in using the THVD441 in an upcoming RS-485 application. One feature that makes this device particularly appealing is the ability to fully disable it via the Shutdown (SHDN) pin.

I would like to confirm the following behavior when the SHDN pin is asserted:

All outputs are placed into a high-impedance state.

The state of the Direction (DIR) pin has no effect on the outputs while the device is shutdown.

Could you please confirm that this is the expected behavior? I want to ensure this aligns with my design requirements before selecting this component.

I hope you are doing well.

We are currently working on a USB Type-C design using the TUSB1104RNQR in I²C mode along with the TUSB321, and would like to confirm our understanding regarding flip (orientation) control.

As per the TUSB1104 datasheet (Section 7.5 – Programming), we understand that in I²C mode the FLIP function is controlled via register writes (e.g., register 0x0A with values such as 0x11 for normal and 0x15 for flipped orientation), rather than using the FLIP pin.

From the TUSB321 side, we understand that:

The device detects cable orientation using CC1/CC2.

The orientation information is provided through the DIR pin of TUSB321.

Based on this, our current understanding is as follows:

The MCU/Host reads the DIR pin status from TUSB321 to determine cable orientation.

Based on DIR (normal/flip), the MCU/Host writes the corresponding value to the TUSB1104 over I²C (e.g., 0x0A register).

This enables proper lane mapping (normal vs flipped) inside the TUSB1104.

We would like to request your confirmation on the following points:

Is the above understanding correct for implementing flip control in I²C mode?

Are there any best practices or reference designs available for this specific combination (TUSB321 + TUSB1104 in I²C mode)?

Any guidance or reference documentation would be greatly appreciated to ensure correct implementation.

Thank you for your support.

THVD1400: Bus input current

Part Number: THVD1400

Hello, I am interested in using the THVD1400 in a system with multiple modules The application is a bit specific and requires a very low bus input current when the transceiver is not used.

The datasheet specifies the maximum bus input current as 100µA when the driver is disabled.

These numbers relate to the case when the input voltage is 12V. In my use case there are several transceivers powered by 3.3V within a closed system. Therefore, the input voltage is limited to much lower levels by design.

Additionally, the low bus input current is only needed for the case when the transceiver is not used (both, driver and receiver disabled). I assume the numbers from the datasheet show the case when the receiver is enabled.

Is it possible to get the maximum bus input current for my use case when:

driver is disabled,

receiver is disabled, and

the bus input voltage is <3.3V

Hello,

We are currently using PCA9555RGER in our product; however, we are experiencing ongoing supply challenges, and it has become increasingly difficult for us to source this part through official distributors.

We understand that TCA9555RGER is a drop-in replacement for PCA9555RGER, and we are planning to evaluate it as an alternative. Before proceeding, we would like to ask if you could kindly share your input on the following:

Is TCA9555RGER expected to have a more stable supply situation compared to PCA9555RGER?

Are there any known or anticipated sourcing constraints, allocation risks, or long lead times associated with TCA9555RGER?

In general, how does TI assess the current and near-term supply outlook for this device?

Is there any plan to make it EOL in the near future?

Your guidance will help us assess the risk and make an informed decision for our product planning and continuity.

Thank you very much for your support. We look forward to your response.

The device is confirmed in Normal mode and nFAULT is HIGH, but the transceiver does not drive the CAN bus when TXD is asserted dominant.

Is there any condition where the TX driver remains disabled even when EN=HIGH and nSTB=HIGH?

MCU side:
MCU: STM32C092CCT6
TXD -> PB1 (FDCAN1_TX)
RXD -> PB0 (FDCAN1_RX)
EN -> HIGH
nSTB -> HIGH (via inverter, verified)

Power:
VSUP = 5V
VIO = 3.3V

Bus:
Proper 120 ohm termination verified
Connected to a second node (CM4 + MCP2518FD + TCAN1463)

Observed Behavior:
TXD is driven LOW (dominant) by MCU
RXD remains HIGH (recessive)
CANH/CANL show no differential output (both below 1.8V on scope)
No frames observed on the bus

CAN Controller Behavior:
STM32 reports Bit0 Error on every transmission
TEC increments to Bus-Off
REC remains 0

Mode / Status:
EN = HIGH
nSTB = HIGH -> Normal mode confirmed
nFAULT = HIGH (no fault reported)

What Has Been Verified:
STB polarity (inverter present and validated)
Device enters Normal mode
nFAULT is not asserted
Bitrate and timing correct (tested also in Classic CAN 1 Mbps)
Second node confirmed working
Power rails stable

Key Observation:
Even with TXD = LOW, Normal mode active, and no faults, the transceiver does not drive dominant on CANH/CANL.

Questions:
Are there any additional internal conditions that gate the TX driver in TCAN1463?
Can the device report nFAULT = HIGH while the TX driver is internally disabled?
Does this behavior indicate a damaged TX stage?
Any recommended debug checks for TXD to bus path validation?

Additional Info:
Issue is reproducible across resets
No intermittent behavior
Scope confirms absence of dominant drive

Thanks in advance for your support.

DS90UH948-Q1: what's the min/max capacitance requirement for DS90UH948TNKDRQ1 power pins?

Part Number: DS90UH948-Q1

Hello,

We are referring to the TUSB8041 USB 3.0 hub in our design and have reviewed the TUSB8041EVM for reference.We noticed that an EEPROM is used in the EVM design. Could you please confirm whether the EEPROM is mandatory for operation, or if the hub can function without it?Additionally, the EEPROM part used in the EVM (AT24C04A-10PI-1.8) appears to be obsolete. Could you kindly suggest a suitable alternate component?
