Part Number: TPD4S012
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2051, , TPD4E1U06I am doing some experiment with OSD335x (Pocketbeagle) USB, and the technical memo desribes a reference cirtuit using
TPS2051 (power switch) and TPD4S012 (ESD protection).
TPS2051 (SOIC package) is relatively OK, but my problem is with TPD4S012 (USON6 package) which is very small, and I have no confident of soldering it onto PCB myself. I may be producing 10-20 tets boards for my lab use using this circult.
I just wonder if you have any suggestion on this?
1) good suggestion of soldering USON6. I may try oven or hot air (may blow away this tiny chip?) but will they ever work?
2) Any breakout board for TPD4S012 so that I can mount it mor easily on to PCB.
3) Alternate chip (perhaps with larger package) that can be used instead. I have looked into your catalog for alternate packages for TPD4S012 but there is none.
4) Or, can I go with no ESD protection par of the circuit and it should be OK, at least for my lab use? (I understand ESD protection is for limiting overcurrent so if the USB devices connected do not consume a lot of current, it is not needed?)
