Part Number: TPD8S300

Hello Sirs,

We have problem when test ESD thru system chassis GND .

Looks like TPD8S300 will protect and system loss power due to Type-C PD stop communication .

If we remove TPD8S300 from system and short CC and SUB to  C_CC and C_SBU . System is still work OK when ESD test .

Would you pls give suggestion ? Will TPD8S300A better for this ESD class-B test criteria ?

Many thanks !

  • Hi Terry,
ESD protection is vital as your system can suffer latent damage even though your system seems to be working fine. TPD8S300A has an advantage over TPD8S300 as in the event of an ESD strike, TPD8S300A keeps the USB Type-C port connected, while with TPD8S300 there is potential for Type-C disconnect. Section 8.3.5.2 in the TPD8S300A d.s has a detailed explanation of how TPD8S300A prevents USB Type-C disconnect.
