LMH0031 stand alone without control interface

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0031, LMH0034

If I read the LMH0031 datasheet correctly, it will power up operational, and decode its standard supported formats automatically without any initializing operations on the control bus.

I am planning to deserialize a SMPTE 292M HD-SDI video signal using a LMH0034 connected directly to LMH0031, and it looks like the LMH0031 VCLK and DV outputs will be functional immediately after power up. Is that correct? I don't need a microcontroller doing any operations with the control bus, as long as I don't want to use other functions and features?

  • That is correct.  The LMH0031 is automatically configured for its default operating condition at device power on or following a device reset.

It will automatically deserialize and decode the serial data, and the parallel data will be available on DV[19:0] with the recovered parallel clock available on VCLK.

For automatic format detection, make sure the video format(s) you are receiving are included in TABLE 4: Video Raster Format Parameters of the LMH0031 datasheet.
